IRVINE — Senior Kelly Meggs scored 12 points and Methlyn Onogomuho added 10 to lead the host Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Saturday.

Meggs made two free throws with 19 seconds left to clinch the win, the fourth straight for UCI (8-17, 4-9 in conference). UCI has won five of its last six Big West contests to help its bid to earn a spot in the eight-team conference postseason tournament that will be at UCI.

Camille Buckley had 13 rebounds and six points for the 'Eaters, who held the Titans (7-17, 3-9) to 25% shooting from the field.

UCI plays host to Long Beach State on Thursday at 7 p.m.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

UC Irvine def. UC San Diego

LA JOLLA — Kevin Tillie recorded a team-high 11 kills and Jeremy Dejno added 10 kills to help lead the No. 1-ranked Anteaters to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-21 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win on Saturday.

Scott Kevorken had eight kills and Collin Mehring had five kills and five total blocks to help UCI (12-3, 9-3 in the MPSF) win its eighth straight match. Zack La Cavera had seven kills in the win.

Libero Michael Brinkley recorded a team-best five digs and setter Daniel Stork posted 35 set assists.

UC San Diego is 5-11, 3-9.

BASEBALL

Orange Coast 10, Desert 1

COSTA MESA — Cody Bruder went two for four with two runs and three runs batted in for the Pirates in the nonconference game Saturday.

Ricky Navarro was three for four with a run, Austin Saenz was two for threee with three runs and two RBIs and Manny Argomaniz was two for three with three runs and one RBI for OCC (9-2), which had 12 hits.

Desert is 2-8.

WOMEN'S WATER POLO

UC Irvine 9 UCLA 6

LOS ANGELES — Hillary Estrada scored three goals for the No. 6-ranked Anteaters in the nonconference game Friday.

Kelsey Klatt, Taylor Morrison and Cambria Shockley also scored for UCI (7-4).

UCLA, ranked No. 3, is 13-1.
