Re: “School breaks 900 API mark,” Aug. 31. Why this incessant need to associate high scores with academic achievement? High scores are fine and dandy, but what does it really prove?
Someone can practice test-taking strategies to elevate their score.
We have to stop putting so much emphasis on a score that may or may not help a person succeed in life. We definitely must not attach a student's success or failure on these standardized tests as a qualification of a teacher's success or failure in educating and reaching out to their students.
