Good morning, readers. Today is Wednesday, July 11, 2012. It was a busy day in the animal world yesterday, with a rabid bat warning and two bear sightings in Pasadena.
In the past week, there were two reported bear sightings in the Pasadena area. Was it Meatball, the bear who has been rummaging through trash in Montrose and La Crescenta, or a friend of his? If residents keep leaving goodies in their trash, we'll find out. Pasadena Sun
Meanwhile in Duarte, a 150-pound bear was tranquilized. He is set to be relocated in the mountains (which didn't stop Meatball from returning). Officials say the hot weather have attracted the bears to pools, shady areas and food. Pasadena Star-News
What's growing at the weekly farmers market at Victory Park? Cherry tomatoes, donut peaches and sweet corn. John Muir High students even have a stand selling flowers. LAist
The Levitt Pavilion's summer series is in full swing. Musician Sara Watkins recently took the stage at Pasadena's Memorial Park with her fiddle, where she described her music as "Southern California bluegrass." L.A. Times
