Casey Walker scored 16 points and top-seeded Brunswick pulled away in the second half for a 52-36 victory over visiting No. 5 Bruton in a Region I Division 3 semifinal Thursday in Lawrenceville.
Brunswick trailed by two at halftime, but its pressure defense created turnovers that led to easy baskets, specifically in the third quarter, where the Bulldogs (18-3) outscored the Panthers 18-5.
Jackson Neve led Bruton (13-8) with 10 points, while Lorenzo Taliaferro and Josh Lofton added added nine points each.
Brunswick, coached by former U.Va. star and NBA player Bryant Stith, shot 15-of-27 at the foul line, compared to Bruton's 7-of-14.
In the championship game, Brunswick will play host to second-seeded New Kent, which defeated James Monroe 65-63.
The Bulldogs have been a state runner-up for the last three years -- the first two times in a tournament encompassing all of Group AA, and last year in Division 3. ...

Branson Tew and Brandon Harvell added 11 points each for the Falcons, who trailed by just one point at halftimeand kept it close until the fourth quarter.
METRO CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS
In the Metro Conference quarterfinals at Denbigh Baptist, Deron Powers' 19 points and eight assists gave No. 2 Williamsburg Christian a 68-40 victory over No. 7 StoneBridge.
Daniel Nice had 16 points and Jake Duncan 14 for the Eagles (23-3), who led 35-10 at halftime.

SEVEN CITIES SEMIFINALS
Regular-season MVP Jordan Pope and Jake Cathey scored 20 points apiece to lead Summit Christian to a 70-44 victory over Chesapeake Bay Academy in a semifinal of the Seven Cities Athletic Conference tournament at Liberty Baptist Church in Suffolk.
Luke Harris added 13 points apiece for Summit (10-5). Chase Anton led Chesapeake Bay with 20 points.
Summit will play Friday against the winner of the game between Gateway Academy and First Baptist of Suffolk for the championship.
