Woman in ICU, ex-husband accused of hitting her with pickup truck

An Indianapolis mother of two suffered a shattered pelvis after her ex allegedly ran over her with his truck

Indianapolis, Ind.

An Indianapolis mother of two is still in the intensive care unit at Wishard Hospital while her ex-husband is accused of hitting her with his pickup truck.

Theresa Mynatt suffered a shattered pelvis, serious lacerations on her left thigh and other injuries.
According to court documents, Mynatt told police she and her ex-husband, Steven Mynatt, got into an argument last Wednesday night. She said she went out for a walk to cool off and Steven Mynatt got into his pickup truck to look for her. He found her in an alley in the 1900 block of South Talbott Street. She told a detective that he hit her with the truck and the impact lifted her off the ground and her body hit the windshield.

A resident living next to the alley called 911.

Police said Steven Mynatt left the scene and officers found him at his home walking his dog. He admitted to police he had been drinking. He was arrested and slated to face battery, domestic battery and criminal recklessness charges.

Theresa Mynatt's sister Crissie Russell told Fox 59 she is stunned by the incident.

"I'm shocked more than anybody cause I never thought in a million years that this would happen," said Russell. "I think he needs to be put away."

Steven Mynatt has been officially charged with two counts of criminal recklessness and one count of failing to stop at an accident.

Russell believes Steven Mynatt intended to kill her sister and is hoping to speak with detectives to give them additional information about the night’s events that might yield harsher charges.

"She probably would've died. And I would've never seen her again."

Mynatt’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 21.
