Police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old girl at a home daycare in Brownsburg. Officers said that daycare was also operating illegally and was ordered to stop watching children.
On the morning of July 18, the girl was at daycare at a home off Silver Ridge Lane when she was found unresponsive inside her play pen. Medics were called to the home and CPR was performed. She was then rushed to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead. Police are now trying to figure out how this baby died.
"Anytime somebody sees a child hurt or a child dies it affects all of us very traumatically, so it is our number one priority right now," said Barrett. "Our detective continues to work with DCS investigators and we're trying to come up with an end result here."
Police are waiting for the results of an autopsy which will determine the cause of death.
Police said five adults were at the home at the time of the incident and there were 10 to 14 children being cared for. According to Indiana Code, a home daycare must have a license if it looks after more than six children unrelated to the operator.
We're told the daycare was ordered to stop watching children.
