Thieves continue to target area pharmacies

Another Central Indiana Pharmacy is robbed and the suspect is still on the loose.

The latest incident happened at the Walgreens at the corner of South Meridian and County Line Road in Greenwood just before midnight Wednesday.

Surveillance pictures showed the suspect giving the pharmacist a fake prescription. When the pharmacist told the suspect he did not have that prescription, the suspect pulled out a gun, got behind the counter and made his demands for pain killers and an anxiety medication.

"The pharmacist complied, loaded up two different kinds of drugs of what the suspect demanded, the suspect then ordered the pharmacist to lie face down behind the counter the suspect fled the store," said Assistant Chief Matt Fillenwarth.

The robbery in Greenwood in the latest in a string of drug store robberies in the area.

Mooresville, Plainfield, Greenfield, Fishers and Indianapolis Police Departments are all working together on these cases to see if they are connected.

There have been more than 80 pharmacy store robberies in Indiana so far this year.
