A Central Indiana school teacher was arrested Monday for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old male student and Fox59 learned this is not the first allegation against him.
Bryan Turner, a 53-year old non-certified physical education teacher at Doe Creek Middle School in New Palestine, is out of a job. Turner is accused of molesting a 14-year-old student at school last year. A phone call about an incident nearly 30 years ago prompted an investigation into the teacher.
The arrest stems from an incident that took place in October 2010, when the boy claimed he was fondled at school by Turner.
This came to light through an investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff's Department and Child Protective Services.
In a letter to parents and staff last week, Superintendent James Halik reported that he received a phone call shortly before Thanksgiving from a man who said he had personal knowledge of misconduct by non-certified teacher nearly 30 years ago.
Halik stated he told Turner he was uncomfortable with his continued employment. Turner later resigned.
The superintendent stated the phone call was the first and only report of misconduct regarding the non-certified employee. The investigation is ongoing.
