FAST FACTS:
  • Lorenzen Wright's ex-wife denies involvement in his murder
  • Divorce settlement spells out couple's financial problems
  • Sherra Wright's attorney says Lorenzen Wright did not pay court-ordered child support

(Memphis 8/2/2010) Squelch the rumor that Lorenzen Wright's ex-wife has been arrested.

Our camera caught Sherra Wright arriving at her Collierville home over the weekend.

Her attorney says she spent a few hours talking to police Friday.

Gail Mathes says Sherra also wants answers.

"There is a rumor out there that she was involved in the killing of Mr. Wright, which is absolutely false," says Mathes.

We have learned more about Sherra and Lorenzen's divorce.

In a settlement Lorenzen was to pay some 26-thousand dollars a month in alimony and child support.

Mathes says the couple's debt had spiraled to 3 million dollars mostly on two homes.

"Mr. Wright ran the show so to speak. If he wanted to purchase these houses, she would have to co sign for them," says Mathes.

In the divorce she was to get $10, 000 a month alimony and $16, 000 in child support, including $4,000 in nanny services, $2700 for credit cards, $800 for entertainment and $600 for housekeeping.

"Mrs. Wright never received any regular payments. He would occasionally give her a little money. Nowhere near the amount he was ordered to do," says Mathes. "She was use to having some household help. All of that had to go away."

But Mathes says the divorce was still amicable.

"She wanted the children to be involved with their father and she needs or needed his financial help," says Mathes.

We also asked Gail Mathes about the three armed men who Sherra says showed up at her door looking for Lorenzen back in May.

Mathes says finding out more about those men and more about what was going on in Lorenzen's life in Atlanta, where he lived, could lead to the killer.
