NEWARK, NEW JERSEY—The New Jersey Devils beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 in game two of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Playoff Series. Dainius Zubrus scored late in the third period to break a 3-3 tie.
Ilya Kovalchuk added an empty net goal in the final minute for the final margin. The series is now tied at a game apiece.
Andy Greene scored New Jersey's first power play goal in the second period to give the Devils a 3-2 lead. Philadelphia's Chris Pronger responded with a power play tally of his own with 1:12 remaining in the period.
Martin Brodeur made 26 saves for New Jersey while Brian Boucher stopped 28 shots. Game three is Sunday evening in Philadelphia.
