The Virginia Tech basketball team will face some tough competition early next year, under the bright lights in Brooklyn.
The school accepted an invite to the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in November at the Barclays Center.
Virginia Tech will host a pair of games in the Classic, but no matter the outcome, will travel to New York. The schedule is not set yet but the other three teams participating are Michigan State, Oklahoma and Seton Hall.
The Spartans and Sooners were both NCAA tournament teams this year while Seton Hall went 15-18.
The event benefits the American Cancer Society.
The semifinals will be on Friday, November 22 with the championship and consolation games the next day. That coincides nicely with a bye week for the Virginia Tech football team.
