The NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers have put Charlotte in the rear view and will head to Dover this weekend but not before a stop here in Virginia.
Nearly 30 Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series teams mashed the gas Tuesday at Virginia International Raceway in Alton.
The Cup Series hits the road at Sonoma late next month and then again at Watkins Glen in August, while the Nationwide guys get a crack at Road America in Wisconsin on June 22nd.
Road racing is a nice change of pace from the grind of oval racing.
“I think what makes NASCAR So different and so special is that you have to be good at so many different genres,” defending Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski said. “You have to be good at short tracks, you have to be good at speedways, and of course road courses. This is that fourth grouping of racetracks.”
