In this week's recruiting roundup, the summer basketball scene starts to heat up as a guard's recruitment winds down.

Football recruiting

-- Class of 2015 quarterback target Kai Locksley, son of Mike, will visit Florida State on Tuesday and Texas next Friday.

-- Class of 2015 defensive end target Byron Cowart said his recruitment likely will come down to Florida and Oregon.

-- Class of 2015 running back target Ray-Ray McCloud III will announce his commitment July 28. Maryland’s among nine listed favorites.

-- ESPN released its top 300 for the class of 2016, which includes several in-state prospects: No. 24 quarterback Dwayne Haskins (Bullis), No. 30 defensive end Shane Simmons (DeMatha), No. 80 safety Eric Burrell (McDonogh), No. 89 wide receiver Steven Smothers (Franklin), No. 99 defensive end Rahshaun Smith (St. Frances), No. 112 defensive tackle Ellison Jordan (Gilman), No. 154 wide receiver Trevon Diggs (Avalon), No. 163 offensive tackle J.P. Urquidez (DeMatha), No. 220 wide receiver Tino Ellis (DeMatha), No. 225 offensive guard Terrance Davis (DeMatha) and No. 257 outside linebacker Keandre Jones (Good Counsel). 

Basketball recruiting

-- Class of 2015 guard target Kevin Dorsey reportedly is down to Maryland, Nebraska and Minnesota, and could decide in the next week. Coach Mark Turgeon was in attendance Wednesday to watch him face off against fellow guard target Justin Robinson.

-- Class of 2015 guard target Malik Ellison reportedly said Maryland is his favorite, with Temple and the Terps recruiting him the hardest. Turgeon checked him out Thursday.

-- Class of 2015 forward target Esa Ahmad continued his star-crossed summer circuit Wednesday.
