“I’ve been in contact with coach (Jim) Boeheim and he understands the process of Antonio finishing school before visiting any schools.’’
UNT sold Vaughns on the idea of playing both the point guard spot and on the wing next season, an approach that will allow him to develop his ball-handling skills.
The news won’t shock those in College Park considering that the former Scarlet Knights guard took a visit to Gainesville on Sunday and Monday.
He admitted no single school stands out yet, but says he expects to make his decision in the fall. And despite the Terps holding commitments from incoming guards Roddy Peters and Romelo Trimble, Campbell says it doesn't hurt their chances in landing him.
** NBCSports.com posted an update this week on Terps forward target Abdul Malik-Abu.
According to Abu, Florida, Kansas State, Iowa State, Maryland, UConn, Providence, Wisconsin and Miami have been coming at him the hardest recently. He holds offers from every one of those programs. Wisconsin is the only school to visit him, as Bo Ryan and his assistants came to his school, Kimball Union Academy (NH).** Bishop O'Connell power forward Junior Etou, who received some Maryland interest more than a year ago, committed this week to Rutgers.
Etou — a native of the Republic of Congo — was ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and the 20th overall forward for the class of 2013. During his senior season, he averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game for Bishop O'Connell.
