-- Six Maryland high school players made ESPN’s new top-300 rankings for the Class of 2015, updated Wednesday: McLean (110), Locksley (124), offensive tackle Isaiah Prince, (227), offensive tackle Pat Allen (229) and wide receiver Jalen Christian (237).
-- Eight Maryland high school players made 247 Sports’ new top-247 rankings for the Class of 2016, also updated Wednesday: St. Frances defensive end Rahshaun Smith (No. 41), wide receiver Trevon Diggs (No. 43), Franklin wide receiver Steven Smothers (No. 62), McDonogh safety Eric Burrell (No. 129), defensive end Shane Simmons (No. 158), Gilman defensive tackle Ellison Jordan (No. 184), offensive tackle JP Urquidez (No. 213) and wide receiver Tino Ellis (No. 225).
-- Class of 2014 guard signees Dion Wiley and Romelo Trimble reportedly impressed during practice for tonight’s Derby Festival Classic in Louisville, Ky. Forced to scrimmage 3-on-3,” Wiley was “virtually unguardable,” while Trimble “wasn’t one of the flashier players at Derby, but he was certainly one of the more productive.” The all-star game, which also features Class of 2014 signee Jared Nickens, starts at 7 p.m. at Freedom Hall and will be live-streamed on WDRB.com.
