The Maryland football team has its first commit in the Class of 2018, and not for the first time, either.
Three-star defensive end-linebacker prospect Durell Nchami announced his pledge Monday night in a message on Twitter with the "DMV2UMD" hashtag, the rallying cry for coach DJ Durkin's push to keep the state's top talent.
The Terps offered the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Paint Branch standout first, in January, before Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Virginia, among others, followed suit. According to the 247Sports.com Composite rankings, he is the No. 54 weak-side defensive end recruit nationally and the No. 20 overall prospect in Maryland.
Nchami is technically the second player to commit to the Terps in this cycle. Eriq Gilyard, a three-star linebacker at Trinity Christian Academy (Fla.), jumped on board in November but later decommitted in early January.
