Three-star defensive end-linebacker Lawtez Rogers commits to Maryland

Defensive end-linebacker Lawtez Rogers, a 3-star recruit who plays at Eleanor Roosevelt, commits to Maryland.

Defensive end-linebacker Lawtez Rogers, a three-star prospect who plays at Eleanor Roosevelt in Prince George's County, committed Thursday night to Maryland, he announced on Twitter.

"I didn't think I would I [sic] be in this position but I would like to thank everyone for pushing me through the tough times," he wrote. "I am beyond grateful and I am proud to announce that I will be committing to The University of Maryland!!!"

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Rogers also had interest from Rutgers and Temple. His commitment comes three days after the decommitment of five-star defensive end Joshua Kaindoh, the Terps' highest-rated recruit.

It also gives the Terps some depth in this class, which now has 21 members. B'Ahmad Miller (St. Frances) is also a defensive end, and Ayinde Eley is an outside linebacker.
