Two Maryland players were honored by the ACC on Monday after the Terps’ 27-20 win over Virginia.
True freshman Stefon Diggs earned Specialist of the Week honors by accumulating a season-high 239 all-purpose yards against the Cavaliers. Diggs took back the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. On the next drive, the Good Counsel grad caught a 60-yard pass to set up another Terps score. He finished with four receptions for 89 yards.
Senior linebacker Darin Drakeford contributed seven tackles (five solo), three tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble to lead Maryland’s defensive efforts and earn ACC Linebacker of the Week accolades. Fellow Terps senior Demetrius Hartsfield won the same award last week after Maryland’s win over Wake Forest.
Diggs is now a three-time ACC weekly honoree. He was named ACC Rookie of the Week for his performance in games against West Virginia and Wake Forest.
