**Headiing into the contest at Georgia Tech, Maryland's hurry-up offense has held the ball for an average of 24:40 per game -- last in the ACC by far.
So might the Terps go slower against Georgia Tech to try to keep the ball away from a Yellow Jackets offense that is averaging 51.6 points and 587 yards per game?
"Those are things that we have discussed," Maryland coach Randy Edsall said today. In other words: wait and see, kids.
**Is everyone buying into Edsall's system? "He's a great leader," quarterback Danny O'Brien said of the first-year Maryland coach. But not everybody is on board. One prominent veteran player said privately that Edsall's style is grating and that he's just waiting for the season to end. Edsall says getting his system in place is "always a work in progress." It may not be a rebuilding year, but it certainly is a transition year.
**Anybody else notice those flash cards held up by team managers on the Maryand sideline to signify ... well who knows exactly what? There are photos of talk-show host Regis Philbin and ESPN broadcaster and Maryland alum Scott Van Pelt. The photos relay messages to the offense and are devised by offensive coordinator Gary Crowton. "He has a lot of fun with that. Very creative," O'Brien said.
