GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Maryland junior forward Evan Smotrycz's availability is in question for Thursday's ACC tournament second-round game against Florida State because of lower back spasms, an athletic department spokesman said.
Smotrycz warmed up a little prior to the game at the Greensboro Coliseum, but mostly stood on the sideline watching. Smotrycz is averaging 11 points and six rebounds and is coming off a game in which he scored 13 points -- all in the first half -- in Sunday's overtime win over then-No. 5 Virginia in College Park.
The Terps will start sophomore big men Shaquille Cleare and Charles Mitchell, along with guards Dez Wells, Seth Allen and Nick Faust (City).
It marks the second straight game Faust has started ahead of Jake Layman, who has struggled of late with his outside shooting. Cleare hasn't started since a Feb. 1 game at Virginia Tech, but played well in the last two games, victories over the Hokies and the Cavaliers.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
