On Saturday, Maryland lost a cornerback from its 2015 recruiting class when Kareem Ali decommitted.

Two days later, the Terps have replaced him with another cornerback.

Three-star corner Mike Majette from Woodbridge, Va., confirmed Monday morning that he has orally committed to Maryland.

“Maryland was close to home, and I really like the coaching staff and the opportunities that are available to me,” Majette said in a telephone interview. “Them entering the Big Ten was huge. That’s big-time football. The campus is lovely. So I just thought, ‘Why not Maryland?’”

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Majette is listed as an athlete by both and ESPN, but he said the Terps plans to use him at cornerback.

“I’m physical,” Majette said. “I’m aggressive. I can tackle. And I’ve got sure hands, so I can catch [interceptions].”

Majette said he also had offers from Boston College, Purdue, Indiana and Marshall, among others, but he decided to commit to Maryland after Ali decommitted.
