Sports Terps Tracking the Terps

Some things to watch at tonight's Terps' spring football game

These are among the things I’ll be watching at Byrd Stadium tonight (7:00 p.m., open to the public).

* The passing and mobility of quarterback Ricardo Young.

I haven’t seen him much. Actually, almost nobody has seen much of him in game situations recently.

He had to sit out last season after transferring, although I caught him in August practices a few times.

This is a delicate subject, but I wonder how he feels about C.J. Brown already being named the starting quarterback.

* The cornerbacks. Dexter McDougle and Jeremiah Johnson are back.

Maryland has enough faith in the duo -- and enough belief in the line pressure up front -- that it hopes to play more man-to-man this season.

You’ve got to love the loyalty of former Terps defensive back Cameron Chism. When I wrote a story on five returning Terps to watch this season, Chism tweeted that I had neglected to mention the cornerbacks.

“Where are my boys Dex and JJ?? They gonna kill this yr,” Chism tweeted. Got it, Cam.

*The receivers.Trivia: Who is the fastest receiver on Maryland’s roster?

It’s Amba Etta, a former high school sprinter. That’s what receivers coach Lee Hull told me.

So I’ll be watching Etta, as well as Stefon Diggs, who always seems to do something worth noting.
