The Maryland men's basketball program has picked up a commitment from Penn State transfer Jon Graham, a source close to the situation confirmed to The Baltimore Sun.
Graham, a Calvert Hall graduate, decided to transfer from Penn State after a redshirt sophomore season in which he averaged 1.9 points and 2.7 rebounds. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward is the son of former Maryland great Ernie Graham.
Graham was a two-time Baltimore Sun All-Metro selection. He led the Cardinals to the 2010 Baltimore Catholic League tournament championship, averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds and 3.4 blocks as a senior.
According to the Washington Post, Maryland will attempt to get an NCAA waiver that would allow Graham to play immediately for the Terps. If the waiver is granted, Graham will join a Maryland big-man rotation that includes sophomore center Shaquille Cleare, sophomore power forward Charles Mitchell and freshman center Damonte Dodd.
