Maryland hopes to add a few more recruits to hoops class

BasketballMark Turgeon

Maryland announced its basketball recruiting class -- the school said the group is ranked 17th in ESPN.com’s national team rankings -- and said it still hopes to add a player or two during the late signing period.
"I expected to have one more signed. I thought we had one more in our back pocket, and it didn’t get done," coach Mark Turgeon said."We're still actively trying to get some things done," Turgeon said.Maryland would like to find a power forward and a guard -- ideally. But Turgeon said he was "thrilled to death" with the current group. All three of Maryland's hoops recruits were recruited by Turgeon while he was at Texas A&M, and there was obviously a comfort level.Turgeon on Shaquille Cleare, a 6-foot-9 center from Houston: "A national recruit, can match up with a lot of people. It's hard to get the big guys."Turgeon on Seth Allen, a 6-2 guard from Fredericksburg, Va.: "Seth is a very explosive athlete and scorer. He has a great feel for the game, is very good in the pick-and-roll and will be a great defender for us."Turgeon on Jake Layman, a 6-8 forward from Wrentham, Mass.: "The first time I saw Jake, I liked his length and his skill set. Jakes gives you great versatility."More analysis is available here....
