Earlier this week, Paul VI (Va.) and Team Takeover standout Kevin Dorsey sounded in no rush to make a commitment. But after his unofficial visit to Maryland on Friday, his plans seemed to have changed.
"I really loved it there. Hopefully, I'll make the decision soon," said Dorsey, a 6-foot rising senior who appears to be Maryland's top point guard target in the class of 2015. "Maybe after Peach Jam, or I'll talk with my family and go from there."
It was Dorsey's first time getting an in-depth look at the school and basketball program — he got to watch the team work out for 40 minutes — and came away clearly impressed. The No. 105 player in the 247Sports.com Composite rankings spent much of the time with his primary recruiter, assistant Dustin Clark.
"It was the first time I've gotten that view. I was surprised how nice the campus was. The campus is really nice. The practice was great," he said. "We went around campus and I had lunch with Coach Clark. ... They were pretty into the practice. They were running up-tempo, and Coach was telling me that it would be a perfect fit for my style."
Dorsey, who has offers from a bevy of major-conference schools, said he isn't quite ready to end his recruitment. He could visit Nebraska and Minnesota in July; he also visited Virginia Tech last week.
Maryland, though, appears to have established itself as a serious contender.
