The Maryland football team had many of its top area targets on campus Monday for the Terps' basketball game against Syracuse, including 247Sports' top-ranked player in the state for the class of 2015: Damascus High athlete Jalen Christian.
The country’s No. 11 athlete and No. 89 overall prospect, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Christian enjoyed being back on campus in a great environment.
“The game was packed,” Christian said. “I enjoyed it a lot.”
The Terps coaching staff had a message for Christian and the other recruits in attendance, and it stuck with Christian after he left.
“The stay-at-home movement,” said Christian, adding that he liked “everything about the coaches and football program.”
Besides Maryland, Christian holds offers from the likes of South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Duke, Kentucky, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. The Terps have had a chance to make perhaps the biggest early impression.
“They stand somewhere mixed in my top list that I don’t have yet,” Christian said.
Christian was a two-way standout as a junior and earned Consensus All-State Honors.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
