Four-star offensive lineman Richie Petitbon has 18 offers.
Four stick out.
“Definitely Alabama,” Petitbon told 247Sports recently at his high school. “I also like Penn State, Maryland and LSU. My big offers are from Alabama, LSU, Penn State, Clemson and Florida State. I’m hoping for offers from Notre Dame, Michigan and Stanford. I’m getting interest from Notre Dame, USC and Oregon.”
The Gonzaga (D.C.) standout detailed what he likes about the four programs of high interest.
Alabama: "I just love all the people there. They have a beautiful campus. Their football is very good. They have good academics and good everyday living. They play good football, which is a bonus."
Penn State: "That was my first offer. It was awesome. It was unbelievable. I worked so hard in the offseason lifting for that. I talk to [defensive line] coach [Larry] Johnson on Facebook, and he came to our DeMatha game. They have a beautiful campus and a great history.”
Maryland: "My dad [Richie Michael Petitbon] played linebacker there. I love Maryland. I’m always very interested in them. I live in Annapolis and I’m constantly in touch with them."
LSU: “I have family that lives there now. My whole family is from Louisiana. My grandfather played at Tulane. My grandmother and aunt went there. Its my home away from home.”
The No. 1 junior in Washington has been to Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Vanderbilt, LSU, Penn State, Notre Dame, Rutgers and Clemson.
“I’m planning to go to the LSU-Texas A&M game and to a Penn State game,” Petitbon said.
The 6-foot-4, 301-pounder bench-presses 300 pounds, squats 515 pounds, runs a 5.1-second 40-yard dash and has a 3.7 GPA.
