Maryland finished last year fifth in the Atlantic Coast Conference’s seven-team Atlantic Division.

The media that cover the Big Ten sees the Terps finishing in the same position in their first year in the Big Ten.

The Big Ten has not put out a preseason poll since 2010, but The Plain Dealer in Cleveland has put together a preseason conference poll ever since with the help of beat writers who cover the Big Ten teams.

That group of media (consisting of 29 media members this year) sees Maryland finishing fifth out of the Big Ten’s East Division.

Ohio State was picked to finish first in the East Division. Wisconsin narrowly edged Iowa as the pick to win the West.
