Maryland offense vs. Connecticut defense: The game marks Maryland coach Randy Edsall's first encounter with the team he left after the 2010 season after leading the Huskies for 12 seasons. The teams will meet again next season. Connecticut's defense, led by blitz-happy former Maryland coordinator Don Brown, ranks first in the nation in rushing defense and third in total and scoring defense. Maryland running back Brandon Ross (hamstring) may be cleared to play in his first game of the season. The Connecticut defense is led by senior defensive end Trevardo Williams and senior linebacker Sio Moore.
Connecticut offense vs. Maryland defense: The Huskies scored only once in a 10-7 loss to North Carolina State last week as quarterback Chandler Whitmer was intercepted three times. The Huskies will try to get RB Lyle McCombs back on track. He topped 1,000 yards last season but had just 60 last week. The Terps welcome back strong safety Matt Robinson (shoulder), who will add experience to a secondary that has struggled.
