No. 1 UM beats No. 3 Wake in field hockey rematch
The No. 1-ranked Maryland field hockey team got second-half goals from Katie O'Donnell, Emma Thomas and Megan Frazer to pull away from No. 3 Wake Forest, 4-1, in College Park. The Terps' Nicole Muracco scored in the first half, which ended 1-1. The game was a rematch of last year's national championship game and ACC championship game, both of which Maryland won. Alicia Grater made four saves for the Terps (10-0 overall, 2-0 ACC).
Indoor football: Mariners defensive coordinator Steve Gaunt, whose unit made 42 interceptions and grabbed 52 takeaways in the 2009 season, reached an agreement to return to the American Indoor Football Association team in 2010.
Minor league baseball: The Long Island Ducks used four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, 7-4, in Game 3 to avoid elimination in the best-of-five Atlantic League Liberty Division Championship Series. Franklin Gracesqui (0-1) suffered the loss.
