The Blast announced their promotions and giveaways for the 2017-18 season. The giveaways include a replica jersey T-shirt featuring Blast defender Adriano Dos Santos (Nov. 17), a mini-ball (Feb. 3) and a bobblehead honoring last season's postseason Most Valuable Player Vini Dantas (Feb. 23). Promotional nights include a championship ring ceremony (Nov. 10), Junior Blast Cheerleaders (Jan. 6), Boy Scouts (Jan. 20), Girl Scouts (Feb. 3), Education is a Blast (Feb. 3) and Fan Appreciation (Feb. 24). The dates of the Cancer Awareness night, First Reponders night and Archdiocese of Baltimore night will be added later. Past champions highlightentries for Md. Million Day
Back-to-back Classic winner Admirals War Chest is one of six defending champions and 10 past winners among 213 horses pre-entered in 11 stakes that constitute the 32nd annual Maryland Million Day program Oct. 21 at Laurel Park. Four of the 11 races are scheduled to be contested over the turf course. Entries close and post positions will be drawn Wednesday. First-race post time on Maryland Million Day is 12:15 p.m.
Military Bowl: Tickets are on sale for the 10th anniversary Military Bowl at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Dec. 28 at 1:30 p.m. Starting at $25, tickets can be purchased online at militarybowl.org or by calling 877-725-8849. This year's Military Bowl again will match representatives from the Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference. The game will be televised on ESPN.
Varsity football: Biff Poggi and Henry Russell, co-varsity coaches for the St. Frances, have been named the Ravens High School Coaches of the Week after leading the Panthers to a 28-0 victory over McDonogh.
College water polo: Navy freshman Bobby Lee was selected as the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week. Lee recorded seven points, including six goals, to help Navy to a 2-2 finish at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament in Claremont, Calif.
