Blast (2-2) vs. Pennsylvania Roar (0-5)

The fourth-place Blast has an ideal opportunity to gain ground in the Major Indoor Soccer League with a home-and-home series against the last-place Roar this weekend, starting in Reading, Pa., on Friday night.

The Blast is looking to build on last weekend's impressive 12-0 shutout against the Rochester Lancers and should be able to repat that against the Roar, an expansion team, which has scored 26 points and allowed points in its first five games in the league.

Blast goalie William Vanzela shined in last Friday's win over Rochester with nine saves and the Blast spread out the scoring with Freddy Moojen leading the way with two goals. Former Philadelphia KiXX standout goalkeeper Peter Pappas anchors the Roar defense and Ptah Myers, formerly of the Blast, works up front.

The Blast is 1.5 games behind frontrunners Syracuse and Milwaukee, which share first place with 4-1 records. Marco Mangione's nine points leads the Blast and is tied for 19th in the league.

The Blast will play the Roar a third straight time in Reading on Dec. 31 at 5:05 p.m.
