The news that the Orioles acquired late-inning reliever Francisco Rodriguez from the Brewers didn't really cause much of a buzz earlier this week, even though the Orioles clearly had shown a need for one more dependable arm in the bullpen. Manager Buck Showalter had been experimenting with minor league closer Jairo Asencio, but the addition of a guy who once had 62 saves in a season and -- at 31 -- still has enough in the tank to pitch to a 1.09 ERA in 25 appearances in Milwaukee this year should be more cause for fans to applaud the decisiveness of baseball operations chief Dan Duquette. Of course, it's possible I'm overanalyzing this and the reason for the tempered enthusiasm was a pair of one-run losses in Kansas City.
