Britton was higher on this list a week ago, after pitching economically in his four Grapefruit League outings and entering the final two weeks of spring training with a 2.08 ERA and an impressive 0.92 WHIP. Those numbers blew up in his last start, when he allowed nine baserunners in 1 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays on Wednesday and appeared to lose some serious ground to the other candidates.
