The Schmuck Stops Here

LHP Kelvin De La Cruz

The tall, lanky left-hander has spent seven seasons in the minors and never gotten a sniff at the major league level, but he delivered some impressive numbers in his first year as a full-time reliever. De La Cruz made 50 appearances last year -- almost all of them at Triple-A Albuquerque -- and had a 2.67 ERA, which isn't easy to do in that corner of the Pacific Coast League. De La Cruz could be a dark horse for the Opening Day roster, but without any minor league options remaining, he'll need to clear waivers in order to be sent to Triple-A Norfolk.
