Schmuck's grades are based on each player's performance in relation to his role on the team, his total playing time and his talent level. So, a utilityman who gets a "B" after playing a limited number of games is being graded essentially against himself, not against his teammates or in relation to similar players on other teams.

Waited patiently for a chance to pitch at the major league level and then made a terrific first impression. Worked in both relief and spot starts and posted 4-0 record and 2.11 ERA. Buck Showalter picked his spots and put him in position to succeed, but you still have to get them out, and he did.
