BOWIE -- Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold is set to bat third in the lineup for the Bowie Baysox at Prince George's Stadium later tonight, and you can be fairly confident that the hitting background here will bring back some good memories.
The last time Reimold appeared in a game at this ballpark was Sept. 4, 2008, and it was quite a memorable occasion for him. He hit three home runs against the Akron Aeros and crushed a grand slam in his final at-bat of the game.
“Gosh, I should just end on a good note,’’ Reimold laughed. “I shouldn’t have come here. I should have gone somewhere else.”
Reimold said that he really didn’t think about that game until he was asked about it by a couple of reporters who followed him down to Bowie to witness the first game of his injury rehabilitation assignment.
Coming back from a slight tear in his right hamstring, he worked out in the batting cage with organizational hitting consultant Terry Crowley and reported no problems. He’s expected to get three at-bats as the designated hitter tonight and hopefully play in the outfield for five innings tomorrow.
