This might be a good day to go out and finally knock out the rest of those leaves in the backyard ... or head over to Home Depot and stock up on that phony rock salt that you're going to need a lot of next month, because you'd have to be kicking butt in your fantasy league right now to care much about most of today's NFL matchups.
The early round of regional television games aren't going to float your boat. The Arizona Cardinals are visiting the Eagles, but I've got to think that if you cared about that game you'd already be stinking drunk in the parking lot at Lincoln Financial Field.
The AFC alternatives aren't all that much better. The Patriots are playing in Houston, which used to have an NFL team, and the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets face off in a wild card-relevant matchup of 5-6 teams that already have lost the first tiebreaker to the Ravens.

Right now, the Wichita State/St. Louis men's basketball showdown is looking pretty good to kill some time until the Broncos take on the Chiefs in the late afternoon game, which is all you get if you don't have the NFL Ticket. Ravens fans would be more interested in the Bengals and Chargers -- a game with all sorts of playoff implications -- but the battle between the two 9-2 teams in the AFC West clearly is the marquee game of the day.
Tonight, of course, the Redskins host the Giants in a nationally televised game that NBC apparently forgot to flex, though -- to be fair -- there weren't all that many great alternatives.
