Opening Day: Morning has broken

The Oriole open the regular season at about 3 p.m. this afternoon, so what was I doing here at 8:45 in the morning?

     Beating the crowds, of course.

Actually, I'm in the ballpark preparing for my role in WBAL's early pre-game coverage, which starts on site at 10 in the newly renovated center field area. I'll be joining Clarence Mitchell IV as we turn the "Week in Review" into an Orioles season preview.

While you're waiting for the game to start, I would encourage you to take a look at The Sun's pre-game coverage, which starts with Dan Connolly's great story on Opening Day starter Jake Arrieta and includes an interesting article by Chris Korman on the future of Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Okay, enough of the shameless pluggery. Here's a scouting report from the front. You'll want to dress warmly, because it's going to be very cool and breezy today. I would also suggest sunglasses. There isn't a cloud in the sky, though you probably already knew that if you've opened the curtains.

Regardless of the outcome, it's going to be a glorious spring day.
