Sure, it's too early to talk about big games and scary trends, but don't kid yourself. The current road trip to Boston and New York was threatening to turn pretty ugly when the Orioles were trailing by two runs in the top of the ninth inning of the second game at Fenway Park. Nobody would have panicked over a 3-5 record, but the Orioles were coming off an opening home series that drew more than 120,000 fans. No sense giving them any reason not to believe. Wednesday night's game provided a huge lift that should carry over into the rest of the trip.
