The competition to land Roddy Peters got a little bit tougher this week.
Peters, a senior point guard from Suitland and top Maryland target, has landed an offer from Kansas. CBSSports.com's Jeff Borzello caught up with the four-star prospect for his reaction to the scholarship from the Jayhawks.
"I like the history, and I like the style of play," he said.
Peters has been busy the past several weeks, taking several steps in his recruitment. He hosted Xavier, UCLA and Rutgers on in-home visits recently. He took unofficial visits to Maryland and Georgetown during the summer, and tripped officially to Xavier. Peters will go another official visit this week, as he heads to Rutgers.
** Adam Zagoria reported this week on the official visit schedule for Maryland point guard target Rysheed Jordan.
In addition to the St. John’s visit [this weekend], Jordan will trip to UCLA Sept. 28-30 and to Maryland Oct. 12-14 for their Midnight Madness.
We were impressed with his ability to play defense and especially boxing out which is often unheard of in camp setting. Morgan mentioned UNLV, Maryland, Georgetown, UNC and Texas as his top five, but stated it was subject to chance. Just a 2014 prospect and we’re sure that list will continue to evolve.
The transfer from New Mexico had three more receiving touchdowns Saturday, giving him a school-record 11 already this season. And he’s played a full game only once thus far.
Long, who had 47 catches for 809 yards and four TDs for the Lobos last year, has also broken IWCC single-game receiving marks for catches (20), yards (246) and TDs (3) this season.
[Greyhounds coach Biff] Poggi spoke very highly of [Randy] Edsall’s “straight-shooting” as a recruiter, and the Terps’s in-state prowess was only enhanced when offensive coordinator Mike Locksley came on board and Good Counsel products Stefon Diggs and Wes Brown committed for Maryland’s Class of 2016.
