Perry Hills turned in a near-flawless performance Sunday in his final high school football game.
The Maryland-bound quarterback completed 8 of 9 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns, leading the West all-star team to a 45-24 win over the East in the 11th Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association All-Star Game.
If any Maryland Terrapin fans were watching, Hills certainly gave them plenty of reason to be excited, especially with his fourth and final touchdown pass - an 88-yard connection to [Dontez] Ford in the fourth quarter to cap the game scoring. Hills, lined up in the shotgun formation, saw the snap roll between his legs and into the end zone. He regained possession, rolled right, then floated a spiral to a wide-open Ford, who did the rest.
* Jake Layman was honored Sunday as Massachusetts' Mr. Basketball, his father Tim said in an email to The Sun. The Maryland-bound small forward was recognized at a brunch Sunday at Holy Cross by the Massachusetts High School Basketball Coaches Association, which selected the Mr. Basketball award. Layman finished his senior season averaging 26 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, four assists.
