A Maryland-bound basketball player has been named the top female high school athlete in her city.
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, who committed to the Terps late last month, is the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's 2011-12 Female Athlete of the Year.
Walker-Kimbrough was a dominating player on Hopewell High School's volleyball team that won a WPIAL championship. Then, while leading the Hopewell basketball team to a WPIAL title, Walker-Kimbrough had a postseason performance for the ages. And, on top of that, she came close to winning a WPIAL track and field title in the spring, finishing second in the triple jump.

After originally drawing interest from Division-I schools Maryland, Seton Hall, and Marquette, Bowers ultimately chose the Indians over premier JUCO programs Paris Junior College, Midland, and Indian Hills.
