With school out for the summer, Tevon Saddler has a simple agenda for the next few months: play basketball, train for basketball, and take college visits to check out basketball programs.
Saddler, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard, will travel to West Virginia on Friday. The St. Frances star, who has been to Morgantown once before, thinks the Mountaineers could be close to offering.
“They want me to come up there and check it out. I want to go see what it’s like,” Saddler said. “I know they’ve got a lot of history. … When I went up there [before], it’s just cool. It’s definitely a different lifestyle.”
Later this month, Saddler is planning to take an unofficial visit to Cornell. The 3.4 student, who will visit the Ithaca, N.Y., school June 22 and 23, is intrigued by the Ivy League institution.
“I haven’t gotten up there. I just know it’s [a strong] academic [school],” he said. “I just want to go see if I fit in there.”
Saddler said he has offers from Cornell, Delaware, Duquesne, South Florida, Towson and UNC-Greensboro. In addition to West Virginia, Saddler also thinks Kansas State could be close to offering.
Saddler, who averaged around 14 points, six rebounds and three assists in his first season at St. Frances, said he plans on making a college decision in August or September. Until then, he’ll focus on working out and playing AAU with Under Armour B’more Finest.
“[I’ll] keep working hard,” he said. On the circuit, “I just do everything. I’m the leader. I’m the captain.”
** Dwayne Morgan took an unofficial visit to Georgetown yesterday and received an offer from the Hoyas, according to Dwayne Wise, director of basketball operations for Under Armour B’more Finest.
Morgan, a four-star prospect and Rivals.com’s No. 23 player nationally for the 2014 class, also claims offers from Florida, Maryland, North Carolina State, Seton Hall, South Florida and UNLV.
Wise said in an email that Morgan will likely visit North Carolina and N.C. State later this summer. Wise said Indiana has also expressed interest recently in Morgan.
