Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

Maryland could look locally for a top forward target in the 2014 class.

Dwayne Morgan, a 6-foot-7 sophomore from City, has fared well this spring on the AAU circuit with Under Armour Bmore's Finest. NBCSports.com's Daniel Martin wrote that Morgan impressed "blocking shots defensively and getting to the rim offensively" during last weekend's Hoop Group Jam Fest in Philadelphia.

He currently holds offers from UNLV, Seton Hall, South Florida, and NC State, and says he is drawing interest from schools that include Texas, Maryland, and Syracuse.

Morgan, who told NBCSports.com that he's not bound to a particular geographic area, earned a four-star ranking this week from Rivals.com. He is listed as the No. 23 player nationally in the 2014 class.

* Darrick Wood, a D.C. native and 2012 guard who drew some Terps interest, re-committed to St. John's last weekend.

He originally committed to the Red Storm in August, but reopened his recruitment in January, as questions about the health of head coach Steve Lavin remained unanswered.

* Terp women's commitment Lexie Brown earned a prestigious invite this week from Team USA.

North Gwinnett junior guard Lexie Brown and Wesleyan senior center Kaelyn Causwell have accepted USA Basketball invitations to Under-18 National Team Trials, which are coming up May 19-21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
