Less than a week after Friendship Collegiate (D.C.) linebacker Yannick Ngakoue reopened his recruitment, the Maryland football program lost another commitment.
Hartman, a two-star prospect according to Rivals.com, had committed to the Terps over offers from Liberty, Richmond and Temple.
“I'm excited,” Hartman told The Sun in July. “Obviously [it was a positive] getting my commitment out of the way before my senior year so I can kind of just focus on my senior year and enjoy it, and at the same time, getting prepared for college as well. I've still been in a lot of contact with the coaches. We're all excited.”
Hartman's high school coach, Frank Rocco, is a former Penn State quarterback. Rocco and Terps defensive line coach Greg Gattuso were teammates with the Nittany Lions in the early 1980s.
With Hartman's decommitment, the Terps have 17 pledges in their 2013 recruiting class.
