Second half surge gives Tri-West a victory

LIZTON - A week after one of their biggest wins in front of their biggest crowds of the season the road to victory was a little more muddled up.

After beating Western Boone on homecoming the week before to take the Sagamore Conference lead, the Bruins would have a tough time with a Frankfort team that came into Lizton on Friday with four consecutive losses.

With driving rain and wind putting offense at a premium, Tri-West found themselves scoreless with the Hot Dogs at the half and in danger of falling into a conference tie with the Stars, who beat Southmont 12-0 on Friday.

But Chuck Coll's team found a way to get it done in the second half, getting a pair of touchdowns and solid defense to pick up the 14-0 win at home Friday night.

The victory clinches a share of the Sagamore Conference championship which the Bruins can win outright if they can win at Danville next Friday night. Second place Western Boone will travel to Lebanon next Friday needing a victory and a loss by Tri-West to clinch at least a share of the conference title.
