Colts acquire CB Vontae Davis from the Dolphins

The team picks up the former first round pick in exchange for a second round choice in 2013

INDIANAPOLIS - It looks like the trade winds were blowing after all.

Three days after Jim Irsay caught the eyes of fans by announcing on Twitter that the Colts were on the verge of a major move, the team acquired cornerback Vontae Davis from the Dolphins for a second round pick in 2013.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports was the first to report this story.

Drafted with the 25th overall selection out of Illinois in 2009, Davis was regarded as one of the up and coming cornerbacks in the NFL. Last season he tied a career high with four interceptions while also making 39 tackles in 16 games for Miami.

Davis fills a void at the cornerback spot opposite of starter Jerraud Powers, one which the team has sought to find consistency. Powers left Saturday's 30-17 preseason loss to the Redskins with a knee injury but said later that night on his Twitter account that he is fine.
