McCormack was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1984 after helping the Cleveland Browns win two NFL championships as an offensive lineman and middle guard. He was named to the NFL's 75th anniversary all-time team.
His teams went 7-9 in 1980 and 2-14 in 1981 before he was succeeded by Frank Kush. McCormack later was president, general manager and interim coach of the Seattle Seahawks.
McCormack served as a consultant to Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, a former Colt, through the expansion process that brought Carolina into the NFL and was later named the team's first president.
McCormack earned a starting role as a rookie with the New York Yanks in 1951 before his NFL career was interrupted by military service. His rights were transferred to the Colts who, in 1953, dealt him to the Browns as part of a 15-player blockbuster trade that sent Hall of Fame coach Don Shula and others to Baltimore.
Martin emerged from the meeting late in the afternoon and spoke briefly with reporters.
"I do not intend to discuss this matter publicly," Martin said. "This is the right way to handle the situation."
Martin said he described his experiences with the Dolphins and that he planned to meet with team owner Stephen Ross and other team officials at an appropriate time.
"Beyond that, I look forward to working through this and resuming my career in the National Football League," Martin said.
Wells is gathering information about Martin's complaints of harassment from guard Richie Incognito and other teammates.

Kubiak up top: Gary Kubiak is back as the Texans' coach, but he might work from the press box instead of the sideline Sunday when the team faces the Raiders, the Houston Chronicle reported. Kubiak suffered a mini-stroke Nov. 3.
If Kubiak calls offensive plays from the press box, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison will move to the sideline. Wade Phillips, who was interim coach in Kubiak's absence, would throw the challenge flag if the team wants a call reviewed.
Extra points: Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor missed practice with a knee injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. It appears likely that rookie Matt McGloin will be the starter. ... WR Percy Harvin took part in practice and is on track to make his debut with the Seahawks on Sunday against the Vikings, his former team. ...
