Ravens fullback Vonta Leach, who played four seasons for Gary Kubiak, said he was disappointed the Houston Texans fired his former coach on Friday.
Kubiak was dismissed by owner Bob McNair after the Texans' 11th consecutive defeat Thursday night, 27-20 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"It's a tough part of the business," Leach said. "Kubiak is a great coach, great father, great man. It's just part of the business sometimes. As players and coaches, if things don't work out the way the owners want them to, you know you're going to get fired. It's a tough year."
The Texans entered this season as a trendy pick to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, making their losing slide particularly galling for McNair.
"They had such high expectations," Leach said. "They've got a good team, good talent. I don't know what went wrong down there because I'm not down there, but, hey, a lot of the expectations they didn't live up to. When stuff like that happens, people lose their jobs."
